A sharp eye, outstanding technique, and decades of experience all add up to Marshall LaPlante Photography. Specializing in commercial, editorial, aerial, and sports photography, Marshall has captured award-winning images all over southern California and around the globe. His work with extreme, cityscape, adventure, fitness and more have appeared in national magazines and newspapers.
Marshall began his career as an eighth grade boy assigned to shoot a high school football game. Even though Marshall’s picture was called “the worst photo to ever appear” in the local newspaper, his love for photography began. Today, Marshall is well known and respected in the Los Angeles photographic community. He is responsible for iconic pictures such as Bob’s Big Boy, Six Flags Magic Mountain’s world’s tallest roller coaster, and the landmark documentary images of 1980’s L.A. policemen on Skid Row.
Marshall doesn’t just take pictures; he gives back. In addition to his trademark aerial and extreme photos, Marshall takes pictures on purpose. He volunteers with the Braille Institute to teach photography to the blind. And since the tragic killing of LAPD SWAT officer Randal Simmons, Marshall donates the proceeds of a poster he made in Randy’s honor to the Randal Simmons Foundation. Much of Marshall LaPlante's extensive photograph library—including the Randy Simmons poster and aerial and extreme photos, are available for purchase or licensing. Marshall is also available for commercial and editorial assignments.
